As a consequence of the pandemic and the current infection rates internationally, the Danish government has decided to place the entire world on the travel red list. This means that the authorities are discouraging all international travel, included work-related travel. Denmark has therefore introduced stricter requirements to travellers who travel to Denmark and do not have a residence there.

These requirements will be in effect 9-17 January and apply to all international air travel to the Kingdom of Denmark.

The new requirements do not apply to domestic flights and travel between the Faroe Islands and Denmark. This means that there are no changes to the current rules and requirements for travel to/from the Faroe Islands.

Only persons with a recognised purpose of travel may enter the Kingdom of Denmark. Recognised purposes include work, important family visits or medical treatment. Travellers are required to present proof that they have tested negative for COVID-19 within 24 hours before boarding the plane.

The airlines may refuse entry to aircraft if you are unable to present a negative COVID-19 test. Children under the age of 12 are not required to provide such proof, but it is still recommended that they are tested before travelling.

Passengers who are in doubt or concerned, how this affects their travel plans, are recommended to contact their airline or travel agency regarding their options.

The changes do not mean that the Danish border will be closed to Danish nationals or other residents of Denmark. This means that residents will still be able to travel to Denmark and the Faroe Islands.

However, the requirement to present a negative COVID-19 test when travelling also applies to Danish nationals and residents of Denmark. The airline may therefore refuse entry to anyone who cannot provide proof of testing.

A PCR test is not a specific requirement, so e.g. antigen test or PCR test is a matter of choice and are accepted. Antibody tests are not accepted when travelling as they do not meet the requirements.
