Reduced period for quarantine and self-isolation

The length of time you are expected to be in quarantine or to self-isolate in connection with COVID-19 will now be reduced from 14 to 10 days. This is the latest recommendation of the Faroese Epidemic Commission.

Anyone testing positive for the coronavirus must go into full quarantine for 10 days. A prerequisite for being released from quarantine is that you have shown no signs of the infection for at least the last 72 hours.

Self-isolation will also be reduced from 14 to 10 days. If the authorities have recommended that you self-isolate, you are also advised to be tested again on the sixth day. A negative test on the 6th day, however, does not release you from self-isolation.

When arriving from a country with a high COVID-19 case rate, i.e. more than 50 cases in 100,000 inhabitants, you should seek a test on the sixth day and remain especially careful for 14 days. Please be particularly mindful of the public distancing recommendation of 1 to 2 metres, cleanliness, hand sanitation, and avoiding large groups or crowds.

The revised recommendations take effect on Thursday, 22 October 2020.
